Group 4 Securicor gears up for busy UK summer season

SUTTON, UK--G4S Security Services (UK), a unit of Group 4 Securicor, is readying for a busy summer that will see the firm provide security services for some of the season's leading events, including the Epsom Derby and Royal Ascot in June, The Wimbledon Tennis Championships in June and July and the Henley Royal Regatta.

Securing such events, which are expected to draw record numbers of visitors this year while generating substantial revenues for the UK economy, poses an array of challenges, according to director of events at G4S, Paul Bullen. "Organizers of large, set piece events face constantly evolving risks that could hamper the smooth running of the occasion," he said in a statement. "Over the past few years they have had to respond to new legislation, anti-social behavior and an evolving terrorist threat."


The ability of G4S Security Services (UK) to provide protection for these events will be bolstered by the company's recent acquisition of Special Events Security Ltd, a nationwide stewarding company, adding depth to G4S's crowd management capabilities while providing resources to "implement individually tailored security solutions across the events marketplace."
